"To Loved Ones Lost" is an important part of this release. The majority of Ypres Incarnate addresses the horror and inhumanity of war; this introduction is very human in contrast. It is a song for the mourners, the families of the millions who died in the Great War, and those who still die at war every day.
This song stemmed from a melody I found in an old audio project on my "Ypres" hard-drive. It was one of many early ideas for the album's intro. When I rediscovered it last year, something about it haunted me.

The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel.

What a creative and unique EP from David! I love the intricacy and level of detail in the soundscape so much. There's always something for my ear to catch each time I visit this release. This is one of his more underrated releases, in my opinion. Great job, David! :D
